In back of the Folly Beach Rental, there is a constant stream of different waterfowl coming through offering photographic opportunities (or just admiring opportunities). Here are two that were captured testing out a new mirrorless camera — the first being a mated pair of Hooded Mergansers and the second being of a White Egret. Both were taken in the Folly River marsh areas nearby, just at different angles from the property.
The marsh habitat behind Turtle Bay is a natural waypoint for migrating and resident birds. Great Blue Herons, Brown Pelicans, Ospreys, and various shorebirds are regulars. The calm tidal flats at low tide are particularly productive for wading birds.
